The Clan Server Part 5 - Propose Clan Server Rules (All admin must need to read this, no excuses)

Been writing this for most of the day and just finish the first draft, so I want your thoughts and opinions on it. I think I've cover all the areas, which need to be covered, but please tell me if I've anything missed anything out or mistakes, apart from spelling ones. You may think some of the rules are harsh, but I want a well run and server that people will want to return to.

Clan Server Rules

1) Admin Tags - All clan server admins must wear one of the following clan tags at all times when on the 8U clan server, (unless instructed to not wear it by one of the senior admin or for special reasons). There are two level of admin and each type can be identified by their clan tag:

Senior Admin: [8U]¹
Junior Admin: [8U]²

If at anytime you are asked to do something by a player who carries any of the above tags, please comply at once. Adding any of these tags to your username, if you are NOT an admin to the server, will result in the punishment of being permanently banned from the server. No excuses on this one. 2) Obey the admins at all times - If you disobey an admin request, or are otherwise belligerent to them, expect to be kicked and/or banned. If you feel an admin or admins are abusing his/her/their powers, email any evidence to me at 8underworld@gmail.com or post it onto are forum under the admin section. Don’t waste my time if all you want to do is whine. Send evidence!


3) Don’t cheat - Using ANY cheats/ plug-ins / hooks /altered graphic card drivers to give you an advantage over any normal game install on 8U’s server is a major offence and will result in a permanent ban without warning.


4) Keep the teams fair - Don’t team stack with other admin, clanmates or ringers. This is a public server, and we admins strive to make it fair, fun and enjoyable for all who join and play with us.

I’ve seen this happen all the time on another clan’s servers, (most of you will know which one in particular I’m talking about, but I won’t mention their names on this forum) The consequences of team stacking to the server is that people will leave at once and will not want to come back to our server, thus having an empty server for 99% of the time. I’m not paying £40+ a month for an empty.

If you are a good player and your team is owning/pwning the other team after several rounds, then be a sport and switch teams. If you are asked to switch by an admin, expect to be kicked if you refuse. If you break this rule constantly, expect to be permanently banned.

I do not want or will let this clan server go the same way as that other clan’s server has gone in the last 12 months due to team stacking.


5) No offensive behaviour - Use your best judgement at all times. Don’t speak to anyone in an abusive manner, or with offensive language, in your username, team speak or messages, even if they are 7 years old and/or a n00b to the game.

The use of constant offensive language, (after a warning from the admin/s), will result in a fine of £5 donated to the clan server. We have HLstatsX on the server, so we know who you are and not paying the fine within 14 days will result in a ban from the server permanently.

It's a simple rule, so don’t do it.


6) Be respectful to everyone - At times there will be over 20 other people on the server, who just want to play. So please respect and be thoughtful of them, even if someone is being an @ss, then the admin will warn or kicked them from the server. Please exercise restraint and do not engage in flame wars with them. (You are allowed, however, to make rude facial expressions and socially unacceptable hand gestures as you blow them up with a load of sticky bombs).

The rule of thumb is you should try and remain as polite as possible at all times on the servers and if you are in the 8U clan and are wearing the clan tag, then you are representing the clan and your bad behaviour will reflect badly onto us all.


7) Complete the objectives - Help your team. If you're not defending your last control point, or not attacking the enemy's, then you're not helping the team. Your team also probably doesn't need five snipers, (unless the admin call for it!). Nor probably 5 engineers building sentries at your spawn if it's your team's turn to attack.


8 ) No offensive sprays - Pornographic, racist or homophobic sprays are not allowed on our server, using such a spray will result in being kicked & banned at once, without warning and permanently.


9) Let the admins play - If we’re online and playing, it’s because we want to play the game, not babysit. Don’t expect us to explain things in detail or defend the policies of the server or anything else to do with the clan; it’s distracting.

The forum, Steam group page, Facebook group etc. are the places to post issues. That why I’ve have spent a huge amount of time over the last few months setting these up. If you have any issues then please go to the forum first, before coming to us because there will be a section/topic there somewhere which will deal with your concerns. The more you use the forum, the better acquainted with it you will be. (Yoda moment!)

If someone is actively cheating or breaking the rules, and there's no other admin around on the server to deal with the matter, then it’s appropriate to bring it to our attention at once. Otherwise, please let us play.

If you are caught wasting an admin’s time intentionally, or continually calling an admin to investigate players on a server, which prove to be nothing more than a better skilled player than yourself, the admin team reserve the right to take action against such a person, the admins at 8U are volunteers and we do this in our free time and have no wish to have it wasted.


10) Admin Abuse - We server admins, carry out the work we do in our own free time, and of our own free will, we are human, not machines, therefore we are not infallible. Where mistakes are made, we’ll work hard to rectify them, but we will not tolerate any abuse or harassment aimed at any member of the admin team and we will always take action against any player/s that abuses any member of the team.

Well i think its a pretty solid and simple to follow however id like it we could post this image somewhere on the homepage to show that we dont cheat ^^

Well I need to edit down, cos I've included reasons for some rules, which is only there to explain why I put that rule in, but isn't really needed once I've finalize them.

Yea pretty good chris, cant see much taht needs changing.

I've edited down the servers rule and added a new rule about spamming over the voice chat, (Rule Number 9). I've also clarified the use of spawn camping on server, in the notes section near to the bottom. Again I want all the senior admin to read the updated rule and to leave comments if I've missed again out or don't agree or like a rule. Want to get these finalizes as quick as possible and get them posted properly on the forum and Steam group page.

9) Spamming - Do not spam ANY chat channels with repetitive text, music, or excessive and irrelevant communication (voice, team chat, global chat, Rickrolling etc.). Do not use your microphone to share your most strange musical tastes with other players. If you are excessively annoying and you have people complaining, you will be neutered and muted. That’s right neutered my friend!

Notes

Clarifying the use of spawn camping - Spawn camping isn’t really much of a big deal in TF2, it’s not hard to shoot stickies out of the way or build up an uber. On our server it is a legitimate tactic and it’s not that easy to lock down an opponents spawn particular in a large game.


Penalties for Breaking Rules

Any violation of the above will result in a penalty or sanction as preferred by the admin. Most infractions will result in a 24 hour ban. A repetition will escalate the penalty to a one week and then permanent ban. Personal threats and truly egregious violations can be upgraded if approved by a senior admin.
Warning!: It is the prerogative of the admin on call to assign warnings rather than moving straight to penalties.

Everyone gets at least one warning before they get kicked and banned.
