LOTUS CLAN'S SERVER HAVE BEEN HACKED!!! (ROLF)

When you're the biggest fish in the sea, then expect to be harpooned in a fantastic style once in a while.

Louts Clan prides itself in being one of the biggest groups on Steam with 121,860 Members at time of writing, with eighteen 'Team Fortress 2' servers and one 'Day of Defeat' servers across the US and UK.

From what we can understand, this attack on their servers happen at about 8pm (UK time) and we only knew when Jack tried to join one of their servers. At it's peak about 2/3 of their servers have been hacked and taken over with the ones in United States - Central coming off with the least amount being taken over.



The hackers changed the names of each server to Woah, A LOT OF _STUPID_ADMINS USE FAKE CLIENTS and password protected each one they took over. From the first screen-shot it seems they actually took over nearly all of them apart from two, as most of them are password protected, but they didn't manage to change the name of all of them.



From the screen-shots it seems someone or a group of people have an axe to grind against Lotus Clan. Lewis and I did say last month that the admin rights given to people who donate to their servers (Donation package) was too much power to give to a non-admin e.g. starting a kick or ban vote and we said this was open to wide scale abuse are problem. I think we were partly proven right tonight!

This attack on Lotus Clan's servers has taken time and has been very carefully planned by this group of hackers, and is of cause illegal and shows that these guys are highly skilled and determined, which is quite worrying. As it's funny when it happens to someone else, but wish it never happen to you.

As time of writing they are fixing the problems and starting to take control back over their servers, now we will have to wait to see what the damage is done, not to their servers, but to their pride and reputation.

You gotta to here this acording to "FlareKitsune" one of the suspected hackers, they did this because Lotus like many other highly played clan servers use that client thing to make it look like theres people in the server when in truth there isnt.. And also servs them right for banning me 3 times 2 week!

ok, stop the flame war you two. I know some people are not impress by Lotus Clan or their methods, but this thread was to highlight even the big guys servers can be taken over with some ease.

I'm not gloating too much over this, as it would be awful if it happen to us, but Lotus does have to take some of the responsibility of this mess upon themselves. They are negligence in term of management of their servers and giving too much admin powers to the donators, but I do not condone the attack of these hackers. As I said this was an illegal act and it shows the lengths some people will go, to get back at a clan who poorly run their servers.

Erm.. You, Kenny and Demo are our ONLY server admins, Lotus let any randomers that donate have control over their servers, There is a BIG difference Lewis

basically once kenny dies or get assassinated i take over 8U but our co-founder lewis will get in the way so i need to hire a hitman to take him out. after that i will steal chris's book which has all the passwords in it and use his remaining paypal money to pay for server. then comes ben, i will poison him next day and then blame it on his parents. jack has no power because i will own chris's book .

it's a good plan but if i have anything to do with it every pw will be changed before you get the book

We have said numinous times over the last year or so, about the way Lotus clan manages and the amount of admin rights they give to detonators. Jack (leader of the clan team), has been banned from their servers dozens of times for allege hacking by people who wouldn't know a crit rocket if one hit them in the face.
